Norvasc is the brand name for amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), chest pain (angina), and some types of coronary artery disease (CAD). Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium from entering muscle cells in the heart and blood vessels.
This lowers blood pressure, reduces the heart’s workload, and improves oxygen flow to the heart muscle.
