Nebilong is the brand name for nebivolol, a medication used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and sometimes heart failure. It belongs to a class of drugs called beta-blockers, specifically, a beta-1 selective blocker with nitric oxide-mediated vasodilating properties. It works by blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart which slows the heart rate, reduces the force of contraction, and lowers cardiac output and blood pressure. It also enhances nitric oxide release from the endothelium, causing relaxation of the blood vessels, improvement of blood flow, and contributing to blood pressure reduction. Its uses include hypertension (high blood pressure), mild to moderate heart failure, and it is sometimes used for tachycardia or anxiety-related palpitations.
